PTI Faces Internal Rift as Fazal Elahi Claims 40-Member Forward Bloc, Threatens to Block KP Budget
Internal differences within Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have intensified in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with senior PTI lawmaker Fazal Elahi claiming that a forward bloc comprising 35 to 40 dissatisfied members of the provincial assembly has emerged within the party.
Speaking to ARY News, Fazal Elahi warned that the group could block the passage of the provincial budget if the party leadership fails to announce a decisive strategy for the release of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
He demanded that the Chief Minister, provincial ministers, MNAs, MPAs, senators, ticket holders, and party office-bearers convene a joint convention and take an oath on the Holy Quran to launch a final protest movement aimed at securing Imran Khan’s release.
According to Fazal Elahi, the protest should continue until Khan is released, and any retreat before that would be unacceptable. He alleged that several party leaders are not sincere in their efforts for Khan’s freedom.
The PTI lawmaker also criticized the provincial government’s performance, alleging widespread corruption within the bureaucracy and claiming that ministers lack the authority to take action against officials involved in wrongdoing.
He further expressed concerns over the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s dealings with the federal government, alleging that certain undisclosed engagements were damaging efforts aimed at securing Imran Khan’s release.
Fazal Elahi warned that if the leadership fails to address the concerns of the disgruntled lawmakers, the group may refuse to support the provincial budget, potentially creating a serious political crisis for the PTI-led government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
