Pakistan Proudly Marks UN Peacekeepers Day, PM Shehbaz Pays Tribute to Global Peacekeepers

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has paid tribute to men and women serving under the United Nations flag on the International Day of UN Peacekeepers, recognizing their sacrifices and contributions to global peace and security.

In his message, the Prime Minister said the day is dedicated to honoring the valuable services and sacrifices of peacekeepers worldwide. He noted that this year’s theme, “Investing in Peace,” highlights the importance of political commitment and financial support in protecting human lives across the globe.

Shehbaz Sharif stated that more than two million men and women have served in over 70 UN peacekeeping missions worldwide. He emphasized that Pakistan remains one of the longest-serving contributors to UN peace operations.

According to the Prime Minister, Pakistan has deployed more than 235,000 personnel to over 48 UN peacekeeping missions since 1960, including more than 500 female peacekeepers.

He said it is a matter of national pride that Pakistan is currently the fifth-largest contributor to UN peacekeeping missions. He also noted that over 4,400 peacekeepers have lost their lives in the line of duty globally, including more than 181 Pakistani peacekeepers.

Paying tribute to the fallen personnel, the Prime Minister said Pakistan remains proud of its brave sons and daughters who have sacrificed their lives in the service of international peace and security.
