China Slams US Blockade of Iranian Ports, Warns of Rising Regional Tensions
China has strongly criticized the United States’ decision to impose a blockade on Iranian ports, calling the move “dangerous and irresponsible” amid already heightened tensions in the region.
Speaking at a press conference, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Gao Jiakun said the blockade would further escalate regional instability and potentially undermine ongoing diplomatic efforts. He warned that such actions could damage the fragile prospects of peace, particularly following the recent failure of US-Iran talks held in Islamabad.
The blockade was implemented just a day after the negotiations between Washington and Tehran ended without any agreement, raising concerns about a possible escalation in conflict.
China also rejected reports suggesting that it was preparing to supply advanced air defense systems to Iran. The spokesperson dismissed these claims as “baseless and fabricated,” emphasizing that China remains committed to stability and diplomacy.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump had earlier warned China of imposing tariffs of up to 50% on Chinese goods if Beijing provided military assistance to Tehran. In response, China cautioned that it would take firm countermeasures if such tariffs were enforced.
Analysts believe that the growing tensions between the United States, China, and Iran could have serious implications for regional peace and the global economy, potentially disrupting trade routes and increasing geopolitical risks.
