Ikhtiar Wali has claimed that Sohail Afridi is suffering from depression due to political pressure and criticism and has written his resignation twice.

Speaking during a morning television show, Ikhtiar Wali said that development work in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has come to a standstill, while the chief minister is facing criticism both from within Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and from the public.

He alleged that the prevailing political situation has placed the chief minister under severe mental stress, leading him to prepare resignation letters on two occasions.

Ikhtiar Wali further said that the people of the province now understand what he described as the government’s “drama politics” and suggested that the provincial assembly should be dissolved so that fresh elections can bring a new mandate.

Criticizing the provincial government’s administrative performance, he said the province has effectively been under a “pen-down strike” since PTI came to power. According to him, around 25,000 schools in the province lack basic facilities such as clean drinking water and washrooms.

He also accused the provincial government of corruption and alleged that smugglers involved in drugs and illegal weapons are being patronized.

The Prime Minister’s advisor further claimed that development funds are being spent on political rallies, gatherings, and social media campaigns, alleging that Rs13 billion had been allocated for social media influencers in 2022.
