Pakistan Facilitated US-Iran Talks After 47 Years, Says Ishaq Dar
Ishaq Dar has claimed that Pakistan played a key role in bringing the United States and Iran to the negotiation table after 47 years.
Addressing the 6th International Paigham-e-Islam Conference organized by the Pakistan Ulema Council in Islamabad, Ishaq Dar said Pakistan encouraged both countries to engage in direct dialogue.
According to him, Iran stated that previous engagements between Tehran and Washington had mostly been indirect. However, through Pakistan’s mediation, both countries held 21 hours of negotiations in Islamabad.
Dar said Pakistan continues to play an active diplomatic role for peace and stability in the region. He also highlighted the strategic defense cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, stating that Pakistan is fully committed to the protection of the Two Holy Mosques.
Criticizing India, he said New Delhi blamed Pakistan for the Pahalgam incident without evidence and launched aggression, but the Pakistani nation demonstrated unity during the conflict.
Speaking about Palestine, Dar noted that although violence had not completely stopped after the ceasefire, the level of bloodshed had significantly decreased.
