Trump Hopes for Major U.S.-Iran Peace Deal by End of This Week
U.S. President Donald Trump has said that negotiations between the United States and Iran are progressing positively and could result in a significant peace agreement by the end of this week.
Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office at the White House, Trump revealed that behind-the-scenes discussions with Iran have been moving forward constructively. While acknowledging that no agreement is guaranteed, he said there is a strong possibility that both sides could reach a final deal in the coming days.
Responding to questions about Iran’s recent missile and drone attacks on Kuwait, Trump stated that every action has a reason behind it. He claimed that the attacks came a day after U.S. forces had carried out intense strikes against security-related targets inside Iran.
The president suggested that some observers might view Iran’s actions as a response to those U.S. military operations. Nevertheless, he emphasized that diplomatic contacts remain active and are showing encouraging signs of progress.
When asked again about the current ceasefire situation in the region, Trump said that ceasefires in the Middle East are often different from those in other parts of the world. According to him, a ceasefire in the region does not necessarily mean a complete halt to hostilities, but rather a reduction in the intensity of fighting.
Trump concluded by expressing hope that ongoing diplomatic efforts would help ease tensions in the Middle East and potentially pave the way for a landmark agreement between Washington and Tehran.
