Punjab Requests Army and Rangers Deployment for Muharram Security
The Punjab government has requested the deployment of Pakistan Army and Rangers personnel to strengthen security arrangements during Muharram-ul-Haram across the province.
According to an official communication sent by the Punjab Home Department to the Ministry of Interior, a total of 137 companies have been requested for deployment in 39 districts to assist law enforcement agencies in maintaining peace and security.
A spokesperson for the Punjab Home Department stated that the request was made on the recommendation of Punjab Police to ensure comprehensive security measures during Muharram processions, gatherings, and religious events.
The requested force includes 61 companies of the Pakistan Army and 76 companies of the Pakistan Rangers. These personnel will support local law enforcement agencies in safeguarding public safety and maintaining law and order.
Officials said that a comprehensive security plan will be implemented throughout the province, with special attention being given to sensitive areas to ensure the peaceful observance of Muharram-ul-Haram.
