Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has directed the Israeli military to expand its operations in Gaza and ensure control over 70 percent of the territory, according to remarks made during a press conference in an Israeli settlement in the occupied West Bank.

Netanyahu stated that Israeli forces had initially gained control of around 50 percent of Gaza, which was later expanded to 60 percent. He said the military has now been instructed to increase that control to 70 percent of the enclave.
