Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar has accused a female leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) of running a “malicious” and “anti-Pakistan” campaign regarding Imran Khan through foreign media channels and social media accounts operating from Afghanistan.

In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Tarar said that the PTI leadership, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohaib Afridi, has adopted a political approach that has pushed governance and public welfare to the background.

He said the party’s entire focus revolves around an “illegal demand” — that political guidance continue to be taken from the PTI founder, who is currently serving a jail sentence in Adiala for corruption. He stressed that such a demand is in violation of jail rules.

Tarar added that instead of focusing on peace, development, and public relief — critical responsibilities of a province severely affected by terrorism — the provincial government spent its time in Islamabad building political campaigns around this unlawful narrative.

The minister further alleged that a PTI woman politician “maliciously mobilized anti-Pakistan accounts operating from Afghanistan and also used Indian media” to spread a negative and damaging narrative about Imran Khan, causing embarrassment to Pakistan on the international stage.

Calling this approach “outright hostility towards Pakistan,” Tarar urged PTI to abandon what he described as anti-state rhetoric and misguided priorities, and instead focus on the interests of the state and the people.
