A 60-year-old man in Orangi Town died after setting himself ablaze, an act reportedly triggered by recurring nightmares in which he saw himself burning. The tragic incident occurred late Saturday night near Shehzad Cinema, Street No. 5, in the Qasba Mor area.

According to rescue officials, the man, identified as Allah Rakha, son of Khushi Muhammad, sustained severe burn injuries and was rushed to Civil Hospital Karachi in critical condition via a Chhipa ambulance. Despite doctors’ efforts, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

SHO Yusuf Mehr stated that initial investigations indicate the incident was a suicide. The deceased had poured kerosene oil over his body before igniting it. Police revealed that Allah Rakha was originally from Rawalpindi and had arrived at his sister-in-law’s home in Karachi only ten days earlier.

The sister-in-law informed police that Allah Rakha had been deeply distressed for the past few days. He had reportedly told her that for three consecutive nights he dreamt of setting himself on fire — dreams that left him extremely unsettled. Eventually, he acted upon the horrifying dream and committed self-immolation.

Police handed over the body to the family after completing legal formalities. Further investigation is underway.
