Pakistan’s Movement for Protection of Constitution Rejects Closed-Door Amendments, Vows Protest
Leaders of Pakistan’s Movement for Protection of Constitution have announced protests against the 26th and 27th constitutional amendments following the suicide attack outside the Islamabad District Courts. The delegation included Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, Asad Qaiser, and Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar.
The leaders expressed grief alongside lawyers and offered prayers for the victims of the attack. Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar stated that no relief package has been announced for the victims, and the injured are covering their own medical expenses. He emphasized that policy decisions should be made openly in Parliament, not behind closed doors, to protect public interest.
PTI leader Asad Qaiser said the government has failed to provide security to citizens, and no official visited the Judicial Complex after the attack. He criticized the 26th and 27th amendments for paralyzing the judiciary, warning that when justice fails, lawlessness prevails.
The leaders also condemned the propaganda campaign against PTI founder and Bushra Bibi and reaffirmed their commitment to uphold the supremacy of the 1973 Constitution through continued protest.
