Islamabad High Court Adjourns Hearing on 27th Amendment and Powers of Islamic Ideological Council

During a hearing on the 27th Constitutional Amendment case, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani made notable remarks regarding the powers of the Islamic Ideological Council (IIC).
Justice Kayani stated, “The 27th Amendment is underway; even the IIC could send proposals and expand its powers.”

The court inquired whether the IIC functions as an advisory body and through whom it can issue opinions. Officials said that the council’s chairman would provide responses once appointed, as the appointment process is still underway.

The court reserved its decision on the petitioner’s request to suspend the council’s opinions.
The Islamabad High Court instructed the IIC to submit complete responses and adjourned the hearing until December 4.
