US Leaders Rush to Israel as Gaza Ceasefire Hangs in the Balance
US Vice President J.D. Vance, Jared Kushner (Donald Trump’s son-in-law), and Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff have departed for Israel to help preserve the agreement and prevent renewed conflict.
According to foreign media, the US delegation aims to ensure the full implementation of the Gaza ceasefire and reduce growing tensions between Israel and Hamas.
Meanwhile, Hamas deputy leader Khalil al-Hayya is leading the group’s delegation in Cairo, where talks with Egyptian officials are underway on mechanisms to sustain the truce.
Before departing, Jared Kushner told reporters:
“Hamas is honoring its commitments. The Gaza peace deal will succeed 100%. We cannot afford for it to fail.”
Despite the truce, Israeli attacks have killed at least 45 Palestinians since its declaration, bringing the total number of martyrs since October 10 to 98.
Analysts believe the Gaza peace accord has entered a critical phase, and the arrival of the US delegation shows that Washington is determined to prevent its collapse at any cost.
