US Acknowledges Pakistan’s Mediation Role in Iran Talks and Regional Stability, Dar-Rubio Meet Highlights Deepening Ties

In a significant diplomatic engagement, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio acknowledged Pakistan’s constructive role in facilitating dialogue with Iran and reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to strengthen cooperation with Pakistan in counterterrorism, trade, and global peacebuilding.
In a meeting held with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, the two leaders discussed a wide range of bilateral, regional, and international issues.
According to the US State Department, the Secretary of State appreciated Pakistan’s efforts to ensure regional stability and welcomed Islamabad’s role as a bridge between conflicting parties, particularly between the US and Iran. They also reviewed plans for the U.S.-Pakistan Counterterrorism Dialogue in Islamabad this August, with a special focus on ISIS-K and transnational threats.
From Pakistan’s side, the Foreign Office stated that Ishaq Dar emphasized the importance of resolving the Jammu and Kashmir dispute per UN resolutions and appreciated US efforts—especially by President Trump and Secretary Rubio—in preventing military escalation between India and Pakistan in recent years.
Dar also briefed Secretary Rubio about Pakistan’s current presidency of the UN Security Council and the unanimous adoption of Resolution 2788, centered on peaceful settlement of disputes.
The meeting covered future trade and economic cooperation, including collaborations in critical minerals, artificial intelligence, crypto technologies, and IT sector investments. Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s sacrifices in the global war on terror, urging deeper cooperation to ensure regional and global peace.
The leaders also discussed the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and stressed the need for unified global efforts to end the conflict and ensure lasting peace in the Middle East.
