A powerful bomb blast occurred the Nawagai area of Bajaur district on Wednesday morning, claiming the lives of at least four individuals and injuring 11 others, according to police sources.

The explosion occurred on Nawagai Road near the Siddiqabad railway crossing, reportedly targeting a government convoy. Among the deceased were the Assistant Commissioner of Nawagai, a police subedar, and another officer — all of whom were traveling together during an official visit.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the blast was caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) planted to hit the vehicle. The area was quickly cordoned off by security forces, while the injured were shifted to nearby hospitals — several in critical condition.

The attack has reignited concerns over the fragile security situation in the tribal districts, especially amid a noticeable uptick in militant activity in recent months. Locals and political leaders have condemned the incident, calling for immediate action and accountability.
