Pakistan, US Move Closer to Finalizing Major Trade Deal

Significant progress has been made in trade negotiations between Pakistan and the United States, with both countries agreeing to finalize a trade agreement next week.

According to Pakistan’s Ministry of Finance, a virtual meeting was held between Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb and US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick. The discussion focused on reciprocal tariffs and developing a mutually beneficial trade framework.

Both parties expressed satisfaction with the progress and committed to completing the agreement smoothly. The upcoming deal is expected to form the foundation of a broader, strategic economic partnership, covering investment and other areas of mutual interest.

The ministry stated that the goal is to enhance trade ties, deepen investment opportunities, and build a long-term economic relationship. Technical-level talks are expected to conclude next week, paving the way for a formal agreement.
