PTI Urges PPP to Join Budget Boycott as Opposition Mounts Pressure on Govt

In a bid to strengthen opposition to the federal budget 2025–26, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has reached out to the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), seeking their support for a boycott of the upcoming vote in the National Assembly.

On Monday, PTI leader and former Speaker of the National Assembly Asad Qaiser met PPP’s senior leader Raja Pervaiz Ashraf at the Parliament House. Qaiser urged PPP to stand united against what he termed an “anti-people” and “undemocratic” budget.

“I have heard PPP’s concerns. If they are serious, they should join us in boycotting the budget vote,” said Qaiser.

Ashraf responded by saying that the proposal would be discussed with PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, who is expected to attend the assembly session later today. While PPP has expressed dissatisfaction with aspects of the federal budget, it has yet to formally announce its stance on the vote.

Sources within PTI say this outreach is part of a broader strategy to isolate the coalition government and highlight cracks within its ranks.
