Gunfire Exchanged Between Pakistan and Afghan Forces, Trade Disrupted

A heavy exchange of gunfire took place between Pakistani and Afghan forces at the Torkham border, involving the use of heavy weaponry. Security sources reported that mortar shells fired by Afghan forces landed in civilian areas, causing partial damage to several homes. The clash resulted in injuries to three FC personnel and one civilian, while a truck driver suffered a fatal heart attack during the chaos.

Tensions escalated after Afghan forces initiated construction in a disputed border area ten days ago, prompting strong objections from Pakistan. To manage the situation, border security has been tightened. However, due to the ongoing conflict, all movement across the Torkham border remains suspended, severely impacting trade activities between the two countries.
