PTI’s Barrister Ali Zafar Advocates for 27th Amendment, Suggests Limiting High Court Powers
Senator Barrister Ali Zafar, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s parliamentary leader, expressed strong support for a 27th amendment to the constitution, arguing that the goals of the 26th amendment were not fully achieved. In an interview on the television program “Capital Talk” with host Hamid Mir, Ali Zafar stated that additional measures are needed, including potential limitations on high court powers under Article 199 of the constitution.
According to Zafar, current legislative practices involve executive actions that are pushed through parliament with minimal debate, reducing the effectiveness of the legislative process. He claimed that while PTI had also encountered similar pressures, the current government has crossed all boundaries with its approach.
Barrister Ali Zafar also addressed the pending legal cases against PTI Chairman Imran Khan, predicting his release based on the legal merits of his cases, not due to any alleged deal.
