Trump Says Iran Has New ‘Smart’ Leadership, Praises Pakistan’s Key Role in Historic Deal
Speaking after the G7 summit in France, US President Donald Trump described the recent agreement with Iran as a major diplomatic breakthrough and said Iran now has a new and more pragmatic leadership.
Trump stated that without the agreement, military strikes and regional instability could have continued for weeks or even months. He said the deal would contribute to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and help stabilize global energy markets by reducing pressure on oil prices.
The US president praised both Pakistan and Qatar for their efforts in facilitating negotiations, emphasizing that Pakistan played a significant role in helping bring the agreement to fruition.
According to Trump, Iran’s current leadership is acting more responsibly and appears willing to pursue a more constructive path. He expressed hope that Tehran would not seek to develop nuclear weapons in the future.
Trump also clarified that the United States would not provide financial assistance to Iran under the agreement, although other countries would be free to invest in the country if they wished.
Commenting on regional politics, Trump acknowledged differences with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding developments in Lebanon and suggested that Israel adopt a more balanced approach toward Hezbollah.
The US president argued that the agreement was necessary to prevent further economic disruption and geopolitical instability, adding that many world leaders had welcomed the development.
He concluded by stressing the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz, describing it as a vital artery for global trade and energy supplies.
