KP Cabinet Approves Key Welfare, Health and Agriculture Initiatives
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial cabinet has approved a series of major decisions related to climate policy, minority welfare, healthcare, education, and agriculture.
According to Shafi Jan, the cabinet approved the Climate Action Board Amendment Bill 2026 during its latest meeting.
He said a grant of Rs112.5 million was approved for minority students, while the endowment fund for minorities affected by terrorism was increased to Rs300 million.
The cabinet also approved relief packages for victims of various incidents in Mardan, Nowshera, and Haripur, along with a grant-in-aid of Rs168.1 million for the KP Education Foundation.
Shafi Jan further stated that the Institute of Mental Health Sciences would now function as a subsidiary institution of Hayatabad Medical Complex. Approval was also granted for the appointment of a Director General in the KP Culture and Tourism Authority.
In the health sector, the cabinet approved an additional grant of Rs180 million to upgrade the kidney hospital in Mingora, Swat into a modern kidney transplant center.
The provincial cabinet also approved the procurement of 225,000 metric tons of wheat at a support price of Rs3,500 per 40 kilograms. Officials estimated that the wheat procurement plan would cost approximately Rs19.68 billion.
Authorities said the move aims to support farmers and ensure stable wheat availability across the province.
