Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Tehreek Tahafuz Ayeen-e-Pakistan have announced a nationwide protest movement, including public rallies and demonstrations, demanding the release of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and the protection of Pakistan’s Constitution.

Speaking at a joint press conference in Lahore, alliance chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai criticized state institutions and claimed democratic values were being undermined in the country. He said political engineering and attempts to sideline Imran Khan would face strong resistance.

Achakzai stated that the alliance believed in parliamentary supremacy and insisted that all major decisions should be made by elected representatives rather than unelected forces. He warned authorities not to obstruct peaceful political activities and said any crackdown could intensify public resistance.

PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja said the party remained firmly loyal to Imran Khan and claimed the public stood with the jailed PTI founder. He described Khan’s release and health as the movement’s top priority.

Raja also criticized the government over economic conditions, unemployment, and farmers’ issues, saying ordinary citizens were suffering while the ruling elite remained disconnected from public hardships.

Former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser accused authorities in Punjab of exploiting farmers and announced that PTI would organize protests alongside farmer groups. He emphasized that the party belonged to Imran Khan and rejected any speculation about alternative leadership.

At the end of the press conference, opposition leaders formally announced plans for rallies, processions, and a wider protest campaign across Pakistan.
