TLP Leader Charged Under Anti-Terrorism Act for Threatening Chief Justice

A case has been registered against Naib Emir Pir Zaheerul Hassan Shah of Tehreek Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) for threatening Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa. The Qila Gujjar Singh police filed the case based on a complaint from SHO Hammad Hussain.

The charges include provisions under the Anti-Terrorism Act, spreading religious hatred, sedition, intimidating the higher judiciary, and interfering with statutory duties. The FIR states that Shah threatened and incited hatred against the judiciary during a protest outside the press club.

Additionally, the TLP vice chairman and 1,500 workers have been named in the FIR. The government had previously warned that action would be taken against those spreading hate.

Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif highlighted ongoing attempts to exploit religion for political purposes, specifically targeting Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa following a recent Supreme Court verdict.

Minister Ahsan Iqbal added that a political party was formed in 2018 to create chaos, reiterating religious scholars’ decrees that terrorism, sectarianism, and suicide killings have no connection to Islam.
