Nvidia has unveiled its new RTX Spark PC chip, a breakthrough technology designed to bring artificial intelligence directly to personal computers, allowing AI agents to run locally on laptops and desktops.

The announcement was made by Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang during the Computex technology conference in Taiwan. Huang said the project is the result of a three-year collaboration with Microsoft aimed at “reinventing the PC for the AI era.”

According to Huang, the RTX Spark chip is specifically engineered to enable AI agents to operate directly on a user’s device, reducing dependence on cloud-based computing services and improving efficiency and privacy.

Nvidia also confirmed that Taiwanese semiconductor company MediaTek played a key role in developing the new chip.

Technology analyst and Counterpoint Research co-founder Neil Shah described RTX Spark as a transformative innovation that could turn traditional application-based computers into “agentic AI” personal computers capable of performing complex tasks autonomously.

Shah compared the potential impact of RTX Spark to revolutionary technologies such as the iPhone, ChatGPT, and DeepSeek, suggesting it could reshape the future of computing.

Alongside RTX Spark, Nvidia introduced its new Vera CPU, a processor specifically designed for AI agents. Huang revealed that major technology firms, including OpenAI, Anthropic, and SpaceX, have shown interest in the platform.

He added that the Vera CPU could open access to a new market worth approximately $200 billion and become a major growth driver for Nvidia in the coming years.

Addressing concerns about AI replacing human workers, Huang dismissed claims that artificial intelligence would eliminate software engineering jobs. Instead, he argued that AI would enhance productivity and increase demand for software engineers.

Computex 2026 runs from June 2 to June 5 in Taiwan and features some of the world’s leading technology companies showcasing their latest innovations and future technologies.
