Google Wallet Redesign Introduces Automatic Boarding Passes and New Features
Google has quietly introduced a major redesign for Google Wallet, bringing several new features aimed at improving convenience and security for Android users.
The updated Google Wallet now automatically delivers boarding passes after users complete airline check-ins. In addition, travelers can directly join frequent-flyer programs through Google Wallet without needing to open separate airline applications.
During Google I/O, the company also announced multiple upgrades, including API improvements, expanded Digital ID support across more countries, and a new digital receipt system designed to create a smoother user experience.
Google has provided developers with a dedicated API that allows digital receipts to be directly shared with Google Wallet. According to the company, this feature will help customers stay informed and reduce post-purchase support issues.
Another major feature introduced by Google Pay is Cross-device Payment Verification, which increases payment security, particularly for desktop transactions. Under this system, desktop users will receive a secure push notification or QR code on their mobile device for payment verification.
Users can then approve transactions by unlocking their trusted Android device using biometric methods such as fingerprint or face unlock, or by entering a PIN.
The redesign also introduces a new floating action button, giving users quick access to key Google Wallet functions without needing to search through the app.
