Electricity Tariff May Drop by Rs14 per Unit for Farmers & Industries

The government has prepared a long-term relief package for agricultural and industrial power consumers, aimed at significantly reducing electricity costs.

According to sources, the Power Division has finalized a 3-year plan under which electricity prices may drop by up to Rs14 per unit. After approval, power tariffs for these sectors are expected to be set between Rs22 to Rs23.50 per unit, compared to the current Rs38 for agricultural and Rs34 for industrial consumers.

The proposal will soon be submitted to the Prime Minister, and Shahbaz Sharif is likely to formally announce the package in the coming days.

Officials say this initiative will help reduce production costs, boost exports, and support economic stability by providing affordable energy to key sectors.
