Petrol Price Cut Likely, Diesel May See Sharp Increase in Pakistan

Islamabad: The government is expected to announce revised petroleum prices tonight, with consumers likely to receive a modest relief on petrol but face a substantial increase in diesel prices.

According to sources, petrol prices may be reduced by Rs. 3 to Rs. 4 per litre for the next fortnight. The reduction could provide limited relief to motorcycle riders and private vehicle owners.

However, high-speed diesel prices are expected to rise by as much as Rs. 30 per litre. A significant increase in diesel prices could affect transportation costs, agricultural activities, and the delivery of essential goods across the country.

Sources said that the pricing calculations have been finalized following changes in international oil prices and import costs.

In the previous fortnightly review, the government had reduced both petrol and diesel prices by Rs. 22 per litre.

Currently, the official petrol price stands at Rs. 381.78 per litre, while high-speed diesel is priced at Rs. 380.78 per litre.

Officials are expected to issue a formal notification after consultation with the Prime Minister, and the new prices are likely to take effect immediately after the announcement.
