PPP Demands 50% Increase in Salaries and Pensions Ahead of Federal Budget
The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has presented key budget proposals to the government ahead of the Federal Budget 2026-27, including a demand for a 50 percent increase in salaries and pensions for government employees.
According to party sources, the proposals are aimed at providing relief to low-income and salaried segments of society amid rising inflation and economic challenges.
PPP believes that the current inflationary environment has significantly reduced the purchasing power of government employees and pensioners, making a substantial increase in salaries and pensions necessary.
The party has also proposed raising the minimum monthly wage to Rs60,000 in an effort to improve living standards for workers and low-income households.
In addition, PPP has strongly opposed the imposition of new taxes and any increase in the petroleum levy, arguing that the public is already burdened by high taxes and rising living costs.
The party has advised the government to explore alternative and innovative sources of revenue instead of placing additional financial pressure on ordinary citizens.
Sources further revealed that the government is reportedly reluctant to accept PPP’s demands regarding salaries and pensions, creating uncertainty ahead of the presentation and approval of the upcoming federal budget.
