A major technical failure at Amazon Web Services (AWS) triggered a widespread internet outage on Monday, disrupting access to several of the world’s most-used apps and websites including Snapchat, Duolingo, Canva, Roblox, and Prime Video.

According to AWS, the issue began around 8 AM UK time in the US-East-1 region, causing increased “error rates and latency” across multiple cloud services such as DynamoDB and EC2 — key systems responsible for data storage and computing power.

AWS engineers continue to work on full restoration and have yet to announce the root cause. The company urged users to monitor its Service Health Dashboard for real-time updates.
