Punjab Government Plans Electric Bike Rental Service in Lahore
The Punjab government has announced plans to introduce an electric bike rental service in Lahore as part of efforts to promote environmentally friendly transportation and reduce air pollution.
Under the initial phase of the project, 10,000 electric bikes will be made available for rent across the city, supported by the establishment of 300 docking and charging stations.
The Punjab Housing Authority (PHA) will provide land for the stations, helping improve connectivity between residential areas, commercial centers, and public transport hubs.
Officials believe the initiative will significantly reduce carbon emissions and contribute to controlling air pollution and smog in Lahore. The project is also expected to provide an affordable and modern transportation solution for students, office workers, and the general public.
Users will be able to access the service through a mobile application, making electric mobility more convenient and accessible.
However, the government has not yet announced rental charges or clarified whether the bikes will be available on an hourly or daily payment basis. The details are expected to be revealed in the coming stages of the project.
