Arshad Nadeem Prepares for Major Events, Eyes Commonwealth and Asian Games Glory
Olympic gold medalist javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem has stated that the coming months are crucial as he prepares for a series of major international events, including the Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, and Diamond League competitions.
Currently training in Lahore, Nadeem said he is fully focused on his preparation and fitness. He expressed confidence in his current condition, adding that he has worked hard on his fitness and is fully fit for the upcoming challenges.
He revealed that the Diamond League event in Qatar, originally scheduled for May, has been postponed to June due to regional tensions, giving him additional time to train and refine his performance.
Looking ahead, Nadeem highlighted a packed schedule, including the Commonwealth Games in July, followed by Diamond League events, the World Athletics Ultimate Championship, and the Asian Games. He emphasized that his primary goal is to perform at his best and bring pride to Pakistan.
Nadeem also shared plans to train in South Africa for a couple of months to cope with extreme heat conditions in Pakistan and further enhance his performance.
His coach, Salman Iqbal Butt, described the year as highly challenging, with multiple major events lined up. He noted that the team is currently in the pre-competition training phase, focusing on improving technique and strength.
Butt also mentioned that injuries had affected Nadeem in the previous year, but the team is now aiming for a stronger comeback with improved performance in upcoming competitions.
