Shah Rukh Khan Expresses Desire to Visit Pakistan, Hopes to Bring His Children to Peshawar
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has expressed his desire to visit Pakistan, saying he hopes to one day bring his children to Peshawar to show them his ancestral roots.
A resurfaced video of Pakistan Peoples Party leader and former foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar has gone viral on social media. In the video, she can be seen inviting Shah Rukh Khan to visit Pakistan during a public event.
Addressing the actor at the ceremony, Hina Rabbani Khar said that Shah Rukh Khan enjoys immense popularity in Pakistan, just as he does in India. In response, Shah Rukh Khan revealed that his family has historical roots in Peshawar and that some of his relatives still reside in the Qissa Khwani area.
Referring to his ancestral connection, Shah Rukh Khan said that his family originally belonged to Peshawar’s historic Qissa Khwani Bazaar, an area known for its traditional tea houses, chapli kebabs, dry fruits, and rich storytelling heritage.
Hina Rabbani Khar then extended a formal invitation to Shah Rukh Khan to visit Pakistan, stating that he now had a strong reason to come to Peshawar. Responding to the invitation, the actor said, “Inshallah, I will definitely come. In fact, I want to bring my children there and show them my ancestral homeland. I have visited Peshawar myself.”
Shah Rukh Khan further shared personal memories, recalling that his father took him to Peshawar when he was 15 years old, and again the following year, shortly before his father passed away.
He added that some of the most beautiful moments he spent with his father were in Peshawar and Swat. Shah Rukh Khan said that although he has visited many cities, including Lahore and Karachi, he hopes that one day he will be able to take his children to the places that hold deep emotional significance for him.
