Champions Trophy Will Go Ahead in Pakistan with or Without India, Hasan Ali
Pakistan’s fast bowler Hasan Ali has weighed in on the ongoing debate surrounding the participation of the Indian cricket team in the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025, set to be hosted in Pakistan. Addressing the issue on Samaa Digital’s show “Zor Ka Zor,” Ali voiced strong support for the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) position that the tournament should proceed as scheduled, regardless of India’s involvement.
Ali expressed confidence in the event’s success, emphasizing that cricket will continue regardless of whether the Indian team is part of the tournament. “If we can travel and participate despite security concerns, then the Indian team should also be able to come,” Ali remarked, underscoring the importance of the tournament’s continuity.
The fast bowler also highlighted PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi’s steadfast stance on hosting the Champions Trophy in Pakistan. Ali asserted that if India chooses not to participate, it will be their decision, but the tournament will go ahead as planned.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reiterated its reluctance to send the Indian team to Pakistan, citing government-imposed restrictions as the primary barrier. In response, Indian officials have proposed the possibility of a hybrid model or neutral venue as potential solutions to facilitate the tournament.
Hasan Ali’s comments reflect a broader sentiment within the Pakistani cricket community that the Champions Trophy should be a showcase of international cricket in Pakistan, irrespective of the participation of any one team. The decision now rests on the ongoing discussions between the BCCI and relevant authorities to find a viable resolution.
