Misbah-ul-Haq in Line for Test Head Coach Role Amid PCB Confusion

Former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq has emerged as a contender for the national Test team’s head coach position. Sources confirm that he has formally expressed interest and maintained communication with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Having previously served as both head coach and chief selector between 2019 and 2021, Misbah is reportedly troubled by the PCB’s lack of clarity in the current recruitment process.

Insiders further reveal that the selection committee and mentoring staff are equally concerned about the board’s prolonged silence. Despite holding meetings with top officials, the committee has yet to receive any formal communication about the coaching structure or future plans.

The PCB, meanwhile, has instructed the selectors to continue their routine work, despite the prevailing confusion behind the scenes.
