Saba Faisal’s Divorce Remarks Spark Debate on Gender Roles in Modern Marriages

Renowned Pakistani actress Saba Faisal, best known for her memorable motherly roles in television dramas, has ignited a storm of debate following her controversial remarks regarding Pakistan’s increasing divorce rate.
In a recent talk show appearance, the veteran actress suggested that “women competing with their men” is a major cause behind failing marriages. “Men have been given a particular position by Allah,” she stated, “and when women challenge that order, imbalance is created.”
Saba’s statement that “men are naturally superior” stirred immediate backlash online. While some praised her for defending traditional values, many criticized her for promoting gender inequality in a modern society striving for gender balance.
Interestingly, Saba Faisal did stress the need for mutual understanding and balance in a relationship to make it last. She also reflected on her social media journey, noting the love she receives from fans on Instagram. She acknowledged, however, that her only online regret was a public post about a conflict with her daughter-in-law, which she now calls a “mistake.”
This incident has reignited discussions on patriarchy, feminism, and evolving marital dynamics in Pakistan.
