Rumors Swirl Around Diljit Dosanjh’s Citizenship Status
Popular Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh has become the center of online speculation regarding his citizenship status, with social media flooded by claims that he may have given up his Indian citizenship.
According to Indian media reports, Diljit allegedly obtained US citizenship in 2022 and has reportedly been traveling on an American passport instead of an Indian one since then.
Reports further claim that after acquiring US citizenship in September 2022, the singer stopped using his Indian passport and now enters India through an e-visa. Some reports have also suggested that he may not even hold an OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) card.
Additional details circulating online state that Diljit’s last Indian passport was issued in Mumbai in 2018, while his wife, Sandeep Kaur, is already a US citizen. Reports also allege that the actor has listed California as his place of residence in official documents.
Diljit Dosanjh is widely recognized as a symbol of Punjabi culture and often chants “Main Hoon Punjab” during concerts and public appearances, making the rumors particularly surprising for his fans.
Despite the growing speculation, Diljit has so far remained silent and has neither confirmed nor denied the reports about his citizenship.
The actor recently also dismissed rumors about entering politics. Responding to suggestions from retired officials and professionals urging him to join Punjab politics, Diljit stated on social media that his only mission is to entertain people.
Despite the ongoing citizenship rumors, Diljit remains active in the Indian entertainment industry. He was recently seen in Sunny Deol’s film “Border 2,” while his upcoming movie “Main Wapas Aaunga” is scheduled for release on June 12, 2026.
