An unusual incident has taken place in Tokyo, Japan, where a man who stole a luxury watch from a shop returned it several days later through a courier parcel, accompanied by a short apology note reading simply, "Sorry".
According to the international news agency AFP, the man entered a watch shop posing as a customer and asked to see a Swiss luxury watch made by Audemars Piguet, reportedly worth around $290,000.
After trying the watch on his wrist, he ran out of the shop without returning it. Two employees were present at the time, but no one was injured.
Several days later, the shop received a courier parcel sent from Japan's Aichi Prefecture. Inside were the stolen watch and a brief apology note.
According to Japanese newspaper Asahi Shimbun and local media reports citing investigative sources, the watch's serial number confirmed that it was the same item stolen from the shop.
The shop management declined to comment, while Tokyo police are still searching for the suspected thief.
