PM Shehbaz Applauds 42% Tax Growth, Orders Full FBR Digitization

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a high-level meeting on Wednesday regarding the digitization of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), where he lauded the department’s achievement of a 42% increase in tax revenue compared to the previous decade.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the same spirit and efficiency must be sustained in the upcoming fiscal year. He issued a stern warning that institutional negligence and sluggishness will no longer be tolerated.
He directed that the Track and Trace system be fully implemented at both production and distribution stages across industries. Moreover, he called for the expansion of the Point of Sale (POS) system to further ensure tax transparency.
The PM also underscored the importance of taxpayer facilitation, instructing FBR officials to treat the public and business community with respect and provide maximum ease in compliance.
He concluded by congratulating officials on the recent approval of the national budget, reinforcing that economic reforms and digital transformation are key to Pakistan’s financial future.
