Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has announced a new spell of rain beginning from June 13 and continuing until June 16 across various regions of the country, much to the relief of the public suffering from intense summer heat.

According to PMD, strong western winds are expected to enter the upper parts of the country, resulting in showers accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms.

Rain is expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Talagang, Mianwali, and Sargodha. Northern Punjab areas like Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujranwala, Gujrat, and Sialkot may also receive rainfall.

Lahore, Faisalabad, Jhang, and Toba Tek Singh in central Punjab are likely to experience scattered showers as well.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, cities including Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, and Charsadda are likely to receive rain. Balochistan districts such as Barkhan, Musakhel, and Zhob are expected to witness thunderstorms and heavy winds. Upper Sindh may also see thunder and light rain in some districts.

The forecast brings a much-needed break from the soaring temperatures and is expected to improve air quality and ease power load-shedding concerns in some areas.
