PM Shehbaz Sharif Congratulates PPP on Gilgit-Baltistan Election Victory, Praises Transparent Democratic Process

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has congratulated the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) for emerging as the largest political party in the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly elections, describing the electoral process as a positive reflection of democratic values.

In a statement issued following the election results, the Prime Minister congratulated the people of Gilgit-Baltistan for participating in what he termed a peaceful, successful, and transparent electoral process. He said the active participation of voters demonstrated the region’s commitment to democracy and political stability.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended special congratulations to President Asif Ali Zardari and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, noting that the party’s electoral performance reflected public confidence in its political vision.

He also congratulated the successful candidates of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) as well as all other winning candidates, emphasizing that respect for the public mandate remains a fundamental principle of democracy.

The Prime Minister praised the Election Commission for ensuring a fair, transparent, and impartial election process. He further acknowledged the efforts of police, law enforcement agencies, and security forces for maintaining peace and security throughout the polling process.

According to unofficial and preliminary results from the 24-seat Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly, the Pakistan Peoples Party has emerged as the leading party, securing the highest number of seats so far.

The Prime Minister’s remarks have been widely viewed as a message of democratic continuity, political maturity, and respect for the electoral mandate in Gilgit-Baltistan.
