Apple’s upcoming flagship smartphone, the iPhone 18 Pro Max, could become one of the heaviest iPhones ever released, according to new leaks and reports surrounding the device.
Reports citing well-known tech leaker Ice Universe suggest that the iPhone 18 Pro Max could feature a battery capacity exceeding 5,500mAh. The larger battery may push the device’s weight to around 240 grams, while its thickness could reportedly reach approximately 9mm.
The US version of the device is rumored to feature a 5,567mAh battery, while the Chinese variant could come with a slightly smaller 5,391mAh battery. The difference may be linked to the physical SIM card tray expected in the Chinese model, which could reduce the internal space available for the battery.
If the reported 240-gram figure proves accurate, the iPhone 18 Pro Max would rank among the heaviest iPhones Apple has ever produced. It is also expected to weigh around seven grams more than the current iPhone 17 Pro Max.
However, industry observers caution that a larger battery may not necessarily result in dramatically longer battery life. The additional capacity could instead be used to support new power-intensive technologies, particularly advanced artificial intelligence features expected to be introduced in future iPhones.
The device is also rumored to be thicker than its predecessor. At around 9mm, the iPhone 18 Pro Max could feel noticeably bulkier, particularly when used with a protective case, potentially making one-handed use more difficult for some users.
Apple has not officially confirmed any details regarding the iPhone 18 Pro Max’s battery capacity, dimensions or weight. Therefore, the reported specifications remain unconfirmed and should be treated as leaks and speculation until the company officially unveils the device.
