The Punjab government has launched the "Apni Chhat, Mehfooz Chhat" housing program, offering interest-free loans ranging from Rs500,000 to Rs1 million to help residents repair, strengthen, or expand their homes.
According to the government, the initiative is designed to support homeowners by providing affordable financing without any interest charges. The scheme offers loans under two separate categories.
Under the first category, eligible applicants can receive an interest-free loan of Rs500,000 for home repairs, roof restoration, or structural strengthening. The loan will be repayable over nine years with a monthly installment of approximately Rs4,700.
The second category is intended for homeowners planning to construct a second floor or expand their existing homes. Eligible applicants can obtain an interest-free loan of up to Rs1 million, repayable over nine years through monthly installments of approximately Rs9,300.
Citizens can submit their applications online through the official portal at acag.punjab.gov.pk, where they must register and provide the required documents.
For those who cannot apply online, handwritten applications can be submitted at the offices of the Deputy Commissioner (DC), Assistant Commissioner (AC), or the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA).
Officials said the objective of the program is to improve housing conditions across Punjab by providing accessible, interest-free financial assistance for home improvement and expansion projects.
