The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has rejected allegations made by the Pakistan Young Pharmacists Association against its Chief Executive Officer, Dr Ubaidullah, and the authority, describing them as baseless, unsubstantiated, and lacking credible evidence.
In an official statement, DRAP said that an unregistered organisation is conducting a coordinated campaign against the authority and its CEO with the aim of influencing regulatory actions and damaging the institution's reputation.
According to DRAP, the recent complaint included allegations regarding medicine pricing, the barcode and Track and Trace System, foreign visits, and alleged corruption. The authority maintained that all accusations were unsupported by evidence and therefore could not be substantiated.
DRAP further stated that decisions regarding medicine prices and the implementation of the Track and Trace System have been taken in accordance with federal government policies, relevant regulatory forums, and applicable legal requirements.
The authority also claimed that the complainant organisation is not officially registered and has previously filed similar complaints before various forums.
DRAP has recommended that the complainants be asked to provide evidence in support of their allegations. It further suggested that if the claims cannot be proven, legal action against those making the allegations should be considered in accordance with the law.
