Reports said Pradhan submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Modi and subsequently announced his decision through a post on X.
The development comes amid escalating protests by students and young people over alleged examination paper leaks. Demonstrators have been demanding greater transparency in the education and examination system, an investigation into the leaks, and accountability for those responsible.
The protests, initially concentrated in New Delhi, have reportedly spread to several other parts of India, including Mumbai, Patna, Kerala and Goa, with large numbers of young protesters taking to the streets. Pradhan's resignation had emerged as one of their key demands.
