Simple Two-Finger Pulse Check Method Goes Viral for Monitoring Heart Health

A simple method of checking pulse using two fingers has recently gained popularity on social media as an easy way to monitor heart health at home.

The technique involves placing the index and middle fingers on the wrist below the thumb or on the side of the neck to feel the heartbeat. People are advised to observe whether the pulse feels normal, too fast, too slow, or irregular.

Heart specialists say the method cannot provide a final medical diagnosis, but it may help identify early warning signs of heart rhythm problems that are often ignored.

According to medical experts, the best time to check pulse is early in the morning immediately after waking up, when the body is fully relaxed. Doctors also advise avoiding pulse checks immediately after exercise, smoking, or drinking coffee, as these activities can temporarily affect heart rate.

Experts recommend counting the heartbeat for 30 seconds and multiplying the number by two. A healthy adult’s resting heart rate should normally fall between 60 and 100 beats per minute.

Doctors warn that if the pulse consistently remains above 100 or below 60 at rest, it may indicate problems related to the heart’s electrical system. Irregular heartbeat patterns may also be linked to stress, dehydration, or thyroid disorders.

Medical specialists further caution that if it feels like the heart skips a beat or beats irregularly, the condition should not be ignored, as it could sometimes indicate a risk of stroke.

However, experts emphasize that this simple test cannot detect blocked arteries or silent conditions such as high blood pressure. For proper diagnosis, tests like ECG and echocardiograms are still necessary.

Doctors recommend maintaining a healthy lifestyle, including balanced nutrition, reduced salt intake, regular exercise, and routine medical checkups to keep the heart healthy.
