PTI Will Boycott Budget Session if Meeting with Party Founder Is Not Allowed, Says Barrister Gohar
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar has warned that his party will boycott the upcoming budget session if a meeting with the party founder is not arranged by tomorrow.
Speaking during the National Assembly session, Barrister Gohar said that despite court orders, PTI leaders have not been allowed to meet the party founder for the past 34 weeks. He urged National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq to issue a ruling on the matter.
In response, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq stated that if the PTI founder were a member of the National Assembly, production orders could have been issued. He also said that the government had made three attempts to bring the government and opposition to the negotiating table, but the opposition did not respond positively.
Talking to the media later, Barrister Gohar criticized the upcoming federal budget, saying it would not be people-friendly at a time when inflation remains high and citizens need relief.
He further stated that a single day of the National Assembly session costs more than six crore rupees and maintaining quorum is the government’s responsibility. Gohar added that the Prime Minister should attend Parliament, listen to public representatives, and answer their concerns, saying a truly democratic government would not ignore Parliament.
