Malaika Khalji, the first female mountaineer from Balochistan to summit Khusar Gang Peak in Skardu, received a warm and enthusiastic welcome upon her arrival in Quetta.
Family members, relatives and well-wishers gathered at the airport to congratulate her on achieving the remarkable milestone, which has been widely praised as an inspiration for aspiring female athletes across Pakistan.
Speaking to the media, Khalji said it was a great honor to become Balochistan's first female mountaineer. She explained that climbing the nearly 6,000-meter-high Khusar Gang Peak was physically and mentally demanding due to harsh weather conditions and difficult terrain.
She also urged the government to invest more in mountaineering and adventure sports, saying that young people—especially women—should be provided with better opportunities, training and support to pursue the sport.
Khalji expressed hope that with proper encouragement and facilities, more Pakistani women would represent the country in mountaineering and achieve success on national and international peaks.
