Pakistan Approves First National AI Policy, Eyes 3 Million Jobs by 2030

Pakistan on Saturday took a landmark step in technology by approving its first-ever National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy. The policy aims to create three million jobs in the AI sector by 2030, while boosting the country’s GDP by 7 to 12 percent.

Federal Minister for Information Technology, Shaza Fatima, stated that the policy provides a comprehensive roadmap for AI development, ensuring the safe and responsible use of the technology. She added that it will enable Pakistan to compete in the global AI race while fostering innovation and international collaboration.

In a related development, Federal Minister for Science and Technology Khalid Magsi met with the Romanian Ambassador to discuss deeper cooperation in science and technology. Romania invited Pakistan to participate in European funding programs, which Magsi said could open “new avenues in technology” for Pakistan. He emphasized that Romania, emerging as a major IT hub in Europe, is keen to strengthen tech ties with Pakistan.
