Google Docs Gets AI Edge, Gemini-Powered Image Generator Launched
Google has unveiled a cutting-edge AI-driven image generator for Google Docs, powered by its advanced Gemini technology. This feature enables users with paid Workspace accounts, including those with Google One AI Premium add-ons, to effortlessly create visuals directly in their documents.
The image generator allows users to describe their desired images via an intuitive interface, accessible through the Insert > Image > Help me create an image option. Users can also choose from art styles like “Photography” or “Sketch” and customize aspect ratios to fit their document format, whether it’s a flyer, brochure, or menu.
Built on Google’s Imagen 3 generator, the tool boasts superior image quality, delivering enhanced detail, lighting, and minimized artifacts. It supports full-bleed cover images for pageless documents, offering flexibility for creative projects.
This rollout follows Google’s introduction of AI tools in Slides last year and demonstrates its commitment to integrating AI across its Workspace suite. The feature is now available on a rapid release schedule, with a full rollout expected by December 16 for scheduled release domains.
