The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has reported that despite the record rainfall, the water flow in all rivers and barrages across Punjab is currently at normal levels. PDMA Director General Irfan Ali provided an update on the water levels, stating that Mangala Dam is at 60% capacity while Tarbela Dam is at 77%. The water levels in Indian dams on the Sutlej, Beas, and Ravi rivers are recorded at 39%.

In light of the recent heavy rains, PDMA has assured that all necessary arrangements have been made to mitigate the risk of flooding, particularly in vulnerable districts. The agency has issued a flood warning for the Indus River adjoining mountains and the River Chenab from August 1 to 4.

To ensure public safety, the PDMA Control Room and District Emergency Operation Centers are actively monitoring the situation around the clock. Unfortunately, the severe weather conditions have resulted in the loss of three civilian lives in the last 12 hours.

The latest citywise rainfall data reveals that Lahore experienced 337 mm of rain, Gujranwala 123 mm, Narowal 70 mm, Kasur 62 mm, Hafizabad 23 mm, and Sialkot 11 mm over the past 24 hours.

The PDMA has further forecasted that the current spell of monsoon rains is expected to continue until August 6, advising residents to stay alert and follow safety guidelines during this period.
